Meet Your SE Foster Team
Cheyenne White — Budtender/Shift Lead
“I was Alaska grown and became an Oregon transplant in September of 2015. I moved to Oregon with a high school friend and we both had plans of working in the cannabis industry. I wanted to get into the business so I could experiment more with pain control and treatment. I had been in pain for a few years with no help or diagnosis from any doctor I went to, so I turned to self-medicating with marijuana. Things have been so much better since. I no longer spend half my day rolled in the fetal position wishing for the pain to stop; now I just smoke a bowl and relax.
“Still new to most experiences in this life, I try to get out and do new or exciting things whenever I can. I one day hope to travel the world, but for now I’m content with just going with the flow.”
Devon Ford — Budtender
“Hello, my name is Devon, or “Devon of Devonshire” (cue trumpets here) as many fellow employees have dubbed me! If you were wondering, I am indeed full blooded British! I grew up in Nevada and moved to Oregon in 2014 to start my photography company and pursue my passion for the cannabis industry. I absolutely love the compassion, love, and knowledge we are able to give to our clientele here at Foster Buds! Each day I am able to leave work knowing l have truly helped make our community a better place” 🙂
Justin Hames — Budtender/Shift Lead
“I was born and raised in the Foster-Powell neighborhood within walking distance of where Foster Buds now sits. I’ve been intrigued by cannabis since I was a young man and always believed it held a value to humanity higher than we may ever know. I’m proud of how far we’ve come as a movement. We are no longer a minority, but a majority. I’m proud to serve some of the finest cannabis in the country on the forefront of this amazing industry. The sky is truly the limit as long as we remain consistent in what we believe in. Cannabis, love, and safe access to medicine.”
Justise Malila — Budtender
“SMILE! It will change your world.”
Matt Smith — Budtender
“I was born on Aerie, the home world and capitol of the Shi’ar Empire, where I attended school and learned about mathematics and space flight. Upon arriving on Earth (albeit en route to another galaxy), I shed my avian feathers to better blend in. Little did I know how weird and welcoming Portland would turn out to be.
“Marijuana has helped me overcome my fear of sobriety, and naturally, my favorite strain is Death Star. So stop by and ask for Matt Hazard, Matt Dog Smith, or even The Mouth from South, and we can talk about my favorite thing in the universe—Frosty Nugs!”
Stan Bryce — Budtender/Assistant Manager
“I love the product I get to sell as well as the customers I get to work with. I also feel honored to be a part of a meaningful movement. Cannabis has not only benefited my life, but my friends and families as well. I’m proud to say I’m doing my part to help cannabis be accepted by our culture and society.
“My favorite strain would have to be Purple Hindu Kush. I prefer Indica strains overall due to their calming and sedating effects, which help me with both anxiety and sleep. Purple Hindu Kush, and other Indica strains like it, help me relax at the end of my day and take the edge off. I can’t imagine what I would do without them.” 🙂

Alex Richter — Budtender/Store Manager
“I’ve been an Oregon medical cannabis patient since 2012. I started working in dispensaries in 2013 and have been lucky enough to have a place in this ever-changing and evolving industry. My favorite part of the job is helping educate others on the many complexities of the plant and its products, as there is so much new information out there others may not have access to. I use cannabis concentrates and edibles to help with chronic pain and muscle spasms related to multiple shoulder dislocations and it has helped me to continue my daily life without the need to use heavy pain medication.”
Anthony Lopez — Budtender/Shift Lead
“The first time I smoked weed was on Sept 5th 2001, it was my first day of high school, in my friend Levi’s cluttered and mold infested garage with a Junior I had met that day named Seth Green. We smoked out of a apple which I then ate to destroy the evidence when Levi’s mom came home early and opened the garage door to find her son, a strange older boy with dreadlocks and me quickly devouring a smoking apple. I’ve been in love ever since.
“In my twenties I started performing stand up and now run a successful comedy show called Earthquake Hurricane. I have a cat named Mick and a girlfriend named Heather. Edibles are my preferred way to consume marijuana, but any port in storm will do. I think this is a pretty cool job filled with great people and a product I truly believe in.”
Jared Hayda — Budtender
“I love working with and smoking marijuana, which I’ve done for the past 16 years. Marijuana helps me with sleep, anxiety, pain, depression and most of all, appetite! Recently, I’ve been trying to put on some muscle mass and have had a smaller appetite. Indica strains help stimulate my hunger to I can eat the calories I need for maximum gains!”
Kodey Kern — Budtender/Assistant Manager
“I have always been so passionate about the marijuana industry, I’ve been giving speeches since high school about the benefits of medical marijuana. I truly believe that we are working in a ground-breaking industry that has helped, and can help, so many people. I love being able to work in this industry as a budtender and a leader at my shop. Helping someone dull their pain, fight off anxiety, calm down an upset stomach, makes my job so rewarding when you have them come back and sincerely tell you thank you. This industry has so much to offer, and it is so much fun watching lives being changed by this plant that we were once so afraid of.”
Matt Ibarra — Budtender/Shift Lead
“I care more about my customers than I think I realize. I treat every experience with anyone the same way I’d imagine being treated – with respect. I live by these seven values: Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity and Personal Courage.
“I began experimenting with using cannabis because of the side-effects from anti-migraine medication; I didn’t want to experience the domino effect of taking prescribed pharmaceuticals from the doctor who ensured these would balance-out the undesirable side-effects. So here I stand today offering quality customer service with a product known to be harmless, not to mention the evidence that cannabis can be beneficial for many medical cases. I have love for this plant and the people it can now help based on its increased availability in many forms.
“The universe has a strange way of returning the energy you send out to it.”
Nicole Bryce — Budtender
“I love being a budtender at Foster Buds because I get to help people and solve problems for our customers by educating them about our great products. Plus I enjoy creating some of our chalk art. One of my favorite strains is Black Grape Romulan — it’s super dark, smells and tastes great, and gives me an amazing mellow high.
“I’m originally from Eugene, but enjoy living with my step-daughter here in Portland. And by the way, I like bugs.”
Tyler Pugel — Budtender/Shift Lead
“I grew up in a little town in Alaska called Nikiski, where my graduating class was only 50 people. So moving here 2 years ago you could say was a big change. I enjoy spending time with friends, traveling, & smoking the reefer. My favorite strain is Obama Kush; it’s a great relaxing high without making me too sleepy—perfect for hanging out with friends.
“Working in the marijuana industry is more than just a job to me it’s a community that brings people together. I get to work in a environment that is always changing, and it’s amazing to see all the new things companies are coming up with and how far the industry has come. I’ve never worked anywhere that I go to work happy & leave happy everyday, making me love Portland even more. “
Meet the Management
Caleb Tice (a.k.a. CT) — Director of Operations
“I am so grateful to work in the cannabis industry because every day I am a part of history. We are experiencing a paradigm shift in this country, as we move from criminalization to one of safe, legal access where adults can choose to ingest cannabis medically or recreationally without a stigma or fear of prosecution. It is an honor to be at the forefront of this movement.
“Cannabis has changed my life. In my mid-twenties I sprained my lumbar and also contracted a staph infection, two conditions that still cause lingering pain and discomfort throughout the day. This amazing plant helps me manage my pain without the litany of side effects I experienced with pharmaceutical drugs. My favorite products are BHO extracts because they provide consistent flavor and effects. With extracts, I can smoke less and quickly receive the pain relief I need.
“As a recent transplant to Portland, I love how different it is compared to anywhere else I’ve lived or traveled. I sensed it the moment I arrived: people are encouraged to express themselves and explore what makes them happy. I miss the sunshine of my hometown, Phoenix, AZ, but I know I have found my true home.”
Lindsay Minar — Marketing Manager
“The people make this job worth every second. The customers are more like my homies, and my coworkers are family. When it comes to picking a favorite strain let’s just say, I cannot get enough Dawg Walker in my life. It has a super pungent, earthy, stinky smell and flavor with the most incredible body and head high that is relaxing without putting you to sleep. It makes me tingle and I love it.
“Originally from Redmond, WA, I enjoy living in Portland. And BRUNCH! Nobody does brunch like Portland. ☺ My favorite spot is the Night Light Lounge and their smoked salmon hash. (Clearly I have the munchies)”
Mercedes Shaw — Purchasing Manager
“I was born and raised in the suburbs of southern California. I was 17 when smoked my first bowl out of an apple in the front seat of my best friends Camaro (who was the head cheerleader on the varsity cheerleading squad). We didn’t feel anything. So naturally, we had to try it again. After that, its a blur of Jack in the box and hanging out in my room talking about nothing and listening to music for 3 years. After building my tolerance, I realized that smoking really helped with my anxiety and insomnia that I was starting to have issues with going into my college years. I received my medical card in California and instantly wanted to get into working in the industry. I moved up to Portland 6 years ago to build a life with my long term boyfriend, and was blessed to be able to sneak my way into the Marijuana industry as a lowly receptionist almost 2 years ago.
“Being a receptionist at a medical shop really opened my eyes to the benefits of the plant that I loved so much too. I knew it helped me the way I needed it, but now I was building relationships with people who rely on the plant to help them do simple tasks such as eating and taking the slightest edge off of their constant pain they were in from their sickness so they could spend time with their loved ones. With my hard work and passion, I am now the Purchasing Manager for the 2 locations we have. That means that I get to build relationships with the people who put their whole lives into growing/making the products that you see on our shelves today! Every product was bought for a reason, and has more than likely been tested by myself to make sure that you’re receiving a quality experience, down to when you go home to enjoy your purchase. “
Robert Guarnieri — Finance Manager
“Hi! I’m Robert. Nice to meet you! The pleasure is all mine, I’m sure.
“First a little about my job: I deal with all things monetary in the company and make sure the business doesn’t get taxed out of existence by a rogue’s gallery of governmental entities. I’m more of a Cash Tender than a Bud Tender, but it’s all green to me. Cannabis accounting is as adventurous and engaging as you would imagine. It’s chock full of mystery, thrills, drama and never causes a dull moment. (I hope you, dear reader, picked up on my facetiousness.)
“Seriously though, numbers must be the most boring of shapes, so working in the cannabis industry helps a lot. While I never partake when working in my role as Keeper of the Numbers, I’m partial to the entire gamut of items we have here at our stores. I always keep some edibles handy for times when smoking openly isn’t an option. Dabs do the trick for my late-night video game marathons. Flower is just a household staple for me at this point: both Indica and Sativa to cover any mood.
“On a personal note, because I’m not all work and accounting, I play a considerable amount of very nerdy tabletop games. Like any grown, responsible adult, this of course includes Dungeons and Dragons. I also do all the other things that you would expect to see on a Tinder profile (or Grindr, or however your dating app chooses to self-identify). For instance, the gym, hiking, camping, and world domination, to name a few.
“Come by the shop sometime, and say Hi!”
